Spencer Heritage Services was founded by Kate Spencer, an archaeologist and historic buildings expert. Kate’s aim in starting Spencer Heritage Services was to create a practice that improves our everyday surroundings and helps to support high quality design inspired by detailed knowledge and understanding of the historic environment.

Today, we are a team of five with three expert heritage consultants, who cover both underground historic remains as well as built heritage and landscape assessments. We also have two expert from our associated company Mutual Governance Ltd, who provide regulatory compliance and governance services for charities and educational organisations. 

At Spencer Heritage Services we believe that expert knowledge of a heritage asset can inspire innovative designs that enrich the historic environment. We provide our clients with the information they need to make informed decisions about their heritage assets and create imaginative designs. Our work is often supported by local councils, amenity groups and historic societies. Our approach provides clarity, enables projects to be planned effectively and run smoothly, on time and within budget. 

Through years of professional experience our multidisciplinary team has forged strong working relationships with archivists, local historians, specialist archaeological advisors, amenity societies and conservation officers across the country.
