Advice on planning applications

We provide homeowners with advice on applications for listed building consent, development within the setting of a heritage asset, development in a Conservation Area, or development affecting Areas of Archaeological Potential. We carry out research into the history of your home and work with the local council and your architect to produce designs that meet your design brief and reflect planning legislation.

Submitting a Planning Application

Spencer Heritage Services carries out Statements of Heritage Significance and Heritage Impact Assessments to accompany your applications for planning permission or Listed Building Consent. We will liaise with the local authority on your behalf ensure your application process goes smoothly. 

Archaeological Building Recording

Archaeological building recordings are required when alterations to an  historic building would result in the alteration or loss of historic fabric and therefore a loss of archaeological evidence that tells us about the history of the building. The idea of the building survey is to record the structure as it stands at that point in time, to preserve the evidence. 

Receiving listed building consent with a condition for archaeological building recording can be a disappointing and frustrating situation when you have been through a lengthy and time-consuming planning application process. But if handled effectively, this issue can be quickly resolved.

Spencer Heritage Services can provide all levels of Archaeological Building Recording (1-4) to satisfy planning conditions. Our team has experience of liaising with local authority staff and delivering these projects efficiently and effectively so that you can get on with your renovation project.
